Kebbi NYSC Hosts Fire Service Boss

Kebbi state National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Friday played host to the Kebbi State Fire Service command boss, Mr Alankwu Alfred who was on a courtesy call to the new leadership of the scheme and to appreciate them for providing avenue for information sharing.

He explained that the NYSC deals with a large number of individuals and so acts as a platform to disseminate information regarding fire safety.

He acknowledged that not only do the Corps Members receive fire safety lectures and training but also share the knowledge acquired and also apply it when the need arises.

DCF Alfred further added that there is no way his Command can combat fire in all the 21 local governments in Kebbi State or have offices in all the local government areas.

But as Corps members receive training in camp nationwide, they take it to the various local government areas the Federal Fire Service Boss concluded by enlightening the meeting on some fire safety precautions stating that safety is paramount and preventing fire is better than combating fire.

While also assuring the NYSC that his command’s doors are always open to assist. While responding, the NYSC Kebbi State Coordinator Mrs Okolo Agatha Banki thanked the Commanding Officer Federal Fire Service for the familiarization visit as it is a key factor to strengthen every collaboration.

Mrs Okolo appreciated the fire service Command for the fire Safety and prevention lectures being delivered during Orientation camp and for the deployment of competent Officers who reside in the camp throughout the period of the exercise.

The State Coordinator solicited continuous support from the federal Fire Service in her operations of the Scheme in the State.

Other Fire Service Officers who accompained their Boss on the visit include the Head of Admin & Supply SF Hassan Jega, Head Of Operations SF Umar Shehu, PRO ASF 1 Israfic Bello and ASF II Mujitaba Zauro the Head of the FFS team of NYSC Camp.

Before departure, the team checked out the fire prevention measures set up in the NYSC secretariat and confirmed the measures were all active.
