Kebbi Govt Declares Public Holiday For New Islamic Year

The Kebbi State Government is set to mark the 1446 New Islamic Year.

The announcement was made by Hon. Auwal Manu Dogondaji, Commissioner for Establishment, who informed the press in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

The decision to declare the public holiday was approved by the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, to allow the Muslim Ummah in the state to celebrate the New Islamic Year.

The 1st of Muharram, which marks the beginning of the Islamic New Year, is expected to fall on Sunday, 7th of July, 2024.

In recognition of the significance of this occasion, the state government has decided to shift the public holiday from Sunday to Monday, 8th of July, 2024. This gesture aims to ensure that residents have ample time to observe and celebrate the New Year.

Commissioner Dogondaji extended warm congratulations from the governor to the entire Muslim Ummah worldwide.

He also called for prayers for leaders at both the state and federal levels to address the various challenges facing the nation. This public holiday stands as a moment for and unity among the Muslim community, encouraging a spirit of solidarity and prayerfulness during the New Islamic Year celebration.
