Kano/Jigawa Customs Command Hands Over 3,712 Donkey Skin

Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, Controller, Kano/Jigawa Command, Muhammad Umar, has confirmed that the command handed over to the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, NAQS, 3,712 seized donkey skins and three 100kg bags of donkey penis for safe disposal in Kano State.

The Custom Area Controller, Muhammad Umar, who disclosed this to AljazirahNigeria via telephone, said it is sad that donkey species are gradually becoming extinct as people unjustifiably kill the animal for their skins.

He explained that the killing and trading in donkey skin has contravened intra and international laws.

He added that men of the service had intercepted and confiscated the donkey skin, as well as donkey penises and also arrested four suspects.

He said major investigations are ongoing on the matter and the service is handing over the seized items to NAQS for safe disposal.

Accepting to him, the items, NAQS North-West Zonal Coordinator, Adamu Ocheje stated that his service has a historic harmonious working relationship with the customs service, adding that based on their mandate, NCS had invited them for inspection and after that, they got approval for safe disposal of the seized items.

FCT Minister Calls For Arrest, Prosecution of Lugbe Culprits

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has called on security agencies to ensure that it apprehends and prosecutes those who participated in the mob attack on Ahmad Usman which led to his death in Lugbe, Abuja.

Bello stated that no one has the right to take the law into their hands no matter the circumstances or perceived level of provocation.

He said the administration will not tolerate any form of mob attack on any resident or the breakdown of law and order.

The Federal Capital Territory, the minister reminded residents, was founded on the premises of national unity, peace and love for country and fellow countrymen. The action of the mob at Lugbe clearly negates all of these principles and will not be tolerated.

The minister assures residents of their safety at all times and urged them to go about their lawful affair without fear of molestation.

He also called for their cooperation in securing their communities by reporting to security agencies whenever suspicious persons or actions are identified.
