FROM RAHILA ABDULLAHI KADUNA

Kaduna State Civil Service Commission has made the necessary arrangements to begin the promotion of about 4,000 officers.

The commission said the exercise was to clear the backlog of outstanding promotion in the core civil service.

Chairman of the commission, Sule Allahbamulafiya, who made this known yesterday while briefing newsmen at the commission’s headquarters in Kaduna, said the exercise is very important.

According to him, they decided to give the promotion exercise wider publicity this time in order to avoid petitions and complaints from civil servants.

Sule said in order to ensure efficiency in the civil service, the commission had introduced aptitude test for applicants wishing to join the civil service.

They have also engaged consultants for the conduct of annual promotion examination which is going to be computer based, but it will be deferred until next year due to exigencies of time.

While stating that before qualifying for oral promotion interview, one must have a pass mark of 50 percent in the promotion examination.

He added that Governor Uba Sani had given them the necessary support and resources needed to conduct the exercise which begins today, September 10 and would be completed in October.

“In order to reward the diligent efforts and dedication of public servants, thereby enhancing their morale and motivation, Governor Sani has approved the conduct of the 2023 and 2024 promotion exercise simultaneously,” he said.

He reiterated the commission’s mission which is to produce and maintain an efficient, dedicated and effective public service using modern techniques and purposeful guideline.
