KACRAN Lauds Tinubu’s Commitment to Promote Livestock

From HASSAN JIRGI, Damaturu

Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his dedicated efforts to advance the livestock sector and its associated value chains.

A statement signed by the National President of the association, Khalil Mohammed Bello, said the livestock sector in Nigeria had faced neglect, largely due to the focus on oil revenue since the end of the first republic.

The statement added that despite past promises from previous administrations, no substantial measures were implemented to address the imbalance between arable and livestock farming.

Bello noted that President Tinubu’s significant strides through his administration’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ had prioritised the livestock sector, culminating in the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development.

He said this was a historic first for Nigeria, underscoring the sector’s vital role in enhancing the nation’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP, improving nutritional food security and generating employment for millions.

KACRAN also lauded President Tinubu for recognising the sector’s potentials, acknowledging its contributions by employing over 30 percent of Nigeria’s rural population and boosting the economy.

According to him, “We assure President Tinubu that KACRAN, as a key stakeholder, will collaborate closely with the ministry, its officials and other stakeholders to achieve the objectives set forth.”
