KACRAN Lauds NEDC, Donor Agencies For Supporting Flood Victims In Borno

Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, has lauded the North East Development Commission, NEDC, Governor Mai Mala Buni and other donors for supporting victims of the flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.

According to him, the recent devastating flood in Maiduguri unfortunately resulted in loss of lives and the destruction of houses, shops, properties worth billions of naira, roads, bridges and other infrastructural facilities.

A statement signed by the National President of the association, Khalil Mohd Bello, stated that Borno State was seriously hit by a devastating flood, following the unexpected overflow of water from Alau Dam.

The statement added that many institutions, nongovernmental organisations, donor agencies and philanthropists instantly moved to Maiduguri and actively partook in the rescue operation, which involved about two million people based on the official report from Borno State government.

He lauded NEDC for donating N3 billion and food items to support victims of the flood disaster.

The commission also embarked on the reconstruction of bridges affected by the flood in Taraba, Yobe, Bauchi and Adamawa, in addition to the routine maintenance of most dilapidated roads linking the six North- East states.

KACRAN thanked the commission for rebuilding the culverts and bridges that were destroyed by water in the region. 

Bello also extended commendation to Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors of various states, national and international donor agencies.
