Wife of the Jigawa State governor, Hajiya Amina Namadi has unveiled the Kwashpap Mix Production Training Programme in Dutse.
According to the governor’s wife, the initiative aims at empowering 600 women and youths with the skills and knowledge needed to produce high-quality kwashpap mix.
Kwashpap, a traditional baby food made from cornmeal or other grains, is a nutritious food for infants and young children, providing essential carbohydrates, fiber and other nutrients for growth and development.
Hajiya Namadi explained that the programme, designed by Hamdan Kasiran OVC and Women Assistance Foundation, is sponsored by the Jigawa State government.
“The initiative aims to promote economic self-reliance, contribute to economic development and the growth of Jigawa State, and improve the livelihoods of women and youths.
“The economic benefits of this programme include the creation of employment opportunities, generation of income, contribution to local economic growth and increased food security,” she said.
According to her, the programme also aligns with the economic development priorities of the state government, particularly in the areas of agriculture, entrepreneurship and youth development.
Namadi expressed gratitude to the wife of the Katsina State governor, Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda, for chairing the occasion.
She also thanked her husband, Governor Umar Namadi, for his unwavering support and leadership.
Mrs Namadi urged the beneficiaries to take the programme seriously and make the most of the opportunity.
Kwashpap Mix Production Training Programme is expected to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
The beneficiaries will receive training on kwashpap mix production, entrepreneurship and business management.
They will also receive start-up kits and equipment to enable them establish their own businesses.
