Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi has approved the appointment of Dr Mohammed Hassan as the pioneer Director-General of the state’s ICT and Digital Economy Agency.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Bala Ibrahim.
Prior to his recent appointment, Dr Hassan served as the Managing Director of Jigawa State Galaxy Information Technology and Telecommunications, ITT.
The SSG explained that the new director-general is a distinguished alumnus of Bayero University, Kano, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2008.
Hassan earned a Masters in Computer Science from the African University of Science and Technology, AUST, Abuja, in 2011, followed by a Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Aizu, Japan in 2018.
Similarly, the governor appointed Baffajo Beita as the Managing Director of Jigawa State Galaxy Information Technology and Telecommunications, ITT.
Beita is the former Chief Information Officer at Galaxy Backbone in Abuja.
He brings extensive expertise in information technology, with specialisation in network administration, cybersecurity and software development.
Beita, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing from Anglia Ruskin University, started his career at the Jigawa State Informatics Institute, Kazaure and played pivotal roles in IT projects across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, involving various sectors, including oil and gas, manufacturing and finance.
In addition, the governor approved the appointments of Muhammad Nura Zubairu as Executive Director of Technical Services and Umar Ibrahim Gumel as Executive Director of Business Development Services at Jigawa State Galaxy ITT.
According to the statement, “These strategic appointments are part of Governor Namadi’s commitment to strengthen the digital economy in Jigawa State, ensuring that the agency is led by capable professionals who will drive innovation and improve ICT services within and outside the state.
“The appointments are based on merit, competence and personal integrity.
“It is, therefore, hoped that the appointees would justify the confidence reposed on them and put in their best towards the development of the state.”
The statement added that all the appointments take immediate effect.
