IWD: DEPOWA President Calls For More Policies, Program To Empower Women

The President of Defence and Police Officers Wives Association, DEPOWA, Mrs Oghogho Musa has called for accelerated action to implement policies and programs that promote women’s empowerment and inclusion.

She made this call at an health walk programme in commemorating 2025 International women’s Day with the theme ” Women and Health #Accelerate Action” in Abuja

She celebrated the achievements of women while also recognizing the ongoing challenges female face, such as discrimination, violence, and unequal opportunities.

She acknowledged the resilience and determination of women, noting their significant contributions in various.

“Today, we gather to celebrate a unique occasion, international, International Women’s this year. Theme, women and health accelerate action resonate deeply with us as we strive for a more inclusive gender equitable society, we are also reminded of the progress made towards achieving gender equality.

“However, we are aware of the significant work that remains to be done. Women and girls around the world continue to face numerous challenges, including discrimination, violence, female genital motivation, equal, unequal access to opportunities and lots more.

“ Despite these challenges, women have constantly demonstrated their resilience, determination and collective action. We have stand the impact that women have when they serve and lead from the battlefield to the boardroom, women are breaking barriers as the power we are committed to empowering women, promoting women’s empowerment and providing support to women and families in need.

“Today, we are not only celebrating the achievements of women but also recommitting access to the pursuit of gender purity.

“We are calling on institution and individuals to accelerate action and implement more policies and programs that promote women empowerment and inclusion,” she stated.

The DEPOWA boss reiterated the importance of International Women’s Day and the need to continue accelerating action for gender equality.

She advised participants to walk away from negative influences and to focus on positive aspects of their lives.

She commended the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her motherly inspiration and continuous guidance.
