It’s A New Dawn For Hockey Federation – President

The newly elected President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation (HFN), Obadiah Nkom, has said that the Federation was set to reposition the sport to attain the next level in its development, both domestically and at continental level.

 Nkom gave the assurance shortly after inauguration of sports federation boards , by the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

 He said that the Federation will organise more grassroots competitions to develop the sports, because with its catch them young initiative the grassroots is key to producing the next generation.

“The careers of our young athletes are now in our hands”, he said.

 He added that he had come with new ideas that he would use to advance the Federation.

“I have my ideas that I am going to input into the Federation and particularly, I once played this game and I know what it takes.

“I was once a player and I know where we were supposed to be, we will be working harder to ensure we move to the next level ,” he said.

He added: “We will work in line with the re-classification of sports from recreation to business as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We will be working hard within six months to begin the process of formulating the Federation’s constitution.

“We will charge the board to settle down to business and avoid the acrimonious relationships that had beset some associations in the past”, he said.
