….Promises an elaborate policy document on youth development
The indigenous youths of FCT under Abuja Original Inhabitant youths Empowerment Organization AOIYEO have greeted FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and all the youths in the capital city of Nigeria to commemorate 2024 international youth day.
This was made known to the press in a release personally signed by the president of the organization, commandant Isaac David who eulogized the FCT Ministers for going out of their ways to ensure that Abuja youth was given a sense of belonging in this government.
According to him, “AOIYEO will never celebrate this year international youth day without giving a space to thank our Honourable Ministers because as an advocate of youth development and empowerment in Abuja, the establishment of Youth secretariat was on of many issues, the organization has been working to achieve as we believe that the creation of the secretariat would go a long way to address some of the challenges facing our youth, therefore, the Ministers have made this year celebration a remarkable one and is the reason why the AOIYEO keeps to appreciate the FCT administration.”
Isaac added that, FCT youth should be equally celebrated for their endurance and perseverance in the face of threat, injustice, deprivation, exploitation and oppression.
“Let me remind you that the peaceful atmosphere that everyone is enjoying in Abuja today was owned to endurance and perseverance being displayed by this Abuja native youth whose their hospitality was second to none, a group of peace loving Nigerians who never, for a minute think of hurting their neighbours or even strangers on their land but always ready to accommodate him or her comfortably,” Isaac claimed
He continued that this accommodative nature of these Inhabitants was exactly what the FCT indigenous youths have done to Nigeria and her populace to live with them in peace since 1976 to date despite the injustice done to them by taking away their ancestral lands without payment of adequate compensation and deprived them their livelihood by compulsory acquisition of their farmlands and villages transferring same to other Nigerians.
“The youths of Abuja stand the best position to protest against the Federal Government for denying them a 2nd tier system of government thereby depriving them all the constitutional rights derivable from it, but have been enduring such dominium and oppression and exploitation yet embracing peace with everyone and the government of Nigeria.” Isaac said.
Meanwhile, Isaac further promised the Ministers that AOIYEO have prepared a very detailed and elaborate policy document and template that can help the newly created secretariat to hit the ground and start running.
“Being a pioneer and front-runner of youth advocate in FCT, we have prepared a template which can be translated to policy document on youth development and empowerment, therefore as a friend of the administration we are ready to give the Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike the said document to help the youth secretariat delivered on its mandate.”
He stressed that International Youth Day serves as a reminder of the importance of empowering young people and recognizing their potential to shape a better future. It is a day to celebrate the creativity, energy, and passion that youth bring to the world, as well as to raise awareness of the challenges they face.
“So, commemorating this day, AOIYEO acknowledges the role of FCT young people as key agents of change and encourage them to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives. It is an opportunity to highlight the contributions of youth in various fields, from social justice and environmental conservation to innovation and entrepreneurship.” Isaac reiterated
He therefore charged the youth to continue to renew their commitment to supporting and advocating for the rights and well-being of young people everywhere, ensuring that they have the opportunity to thrive and make a positive impact on society.
