Insecurity: APC Chieftain, Gololo, Asks Buhari To Resign Now

By Lateef Bamgbose

Dr Garus Gololo, an All Progressives Congress ( APC) chieftain has called on President Muhammad Buhari to address the nation or resign from the office as the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces to save the country from the threats of insecurity and the renewed attacks by the terrorists.

The retired military officer, made the call in Abuja on Tuesday while briefing the press on the killing of a Captain and the 2/iC of the Brigade of Guard by terrorist group in Bwari, in the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT , Abuja on Monday.

“The attack and killing are sad commentary on the constitutional responsibility of the President as the Commander of the Armed Forces and president of Nigeria. How can any group attack a Brigade of Guard, ambush and kill the Commander, his 2/iC and wound soldiers, rather than addressing the nation, the President flew to Liberia to go and deliver lecture on security, what is he going there to tell them, how he is mismanaging the security in Nigeria or his inability to tackle the insurgence?

“This is the same Nigeria and Nigerians that were calling for the removal of the service chiefs, since their removal has anything change? Rather the situation has worsen.”

He continued, “President Buhari has simply show that he doesn’t care even if the country is on fire. He doesn’t care for the ordinary masses , because no leader or president will keep quiet while people are being killed.

“All he does is Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina, issuing statements, how he is regretting the killing or how he has done is best; for how long shall we continue to live in regrets, did Nigerians elect Adesina or Garba?”

Reacting to the closure of schools as a result of threats, “ You can imagine after five months the Academic Staff Union of Universities , ASUU, went on strike, the President is giving two weeks to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who already failed as minister to call off the strike. Something you cannot do in five months. I expected the president to sack him. Now secondary schools students are being sent home.

“This is not what he promised Nigerians; he promised electricity, economy, fight corruption, but all these have failed. How much was a bag of rice then, today it is beyond the reach of the ordinary Nigerians” Gololo lamented.

He called on Nigerians to ignore the call for the postponement of the 2023 General election as a result of the insecurity as according to him it is the only opportunity to make the change that will save the Country.

Gololo berated the Military and other security agencies for the lingering insecurity even as he claimed they are failing because of the body language of the president.

“ In our time we don’t announce military operation on social media, but what you have today is the security agencies sharing intelligence on social media , ignoring early warning signals”
