Indigenous Youth Group Urges FCT Minister To Collaborate with DSS on Youth Profiling

Date:

The Abuja Original Inhabitant Youths Empowerment Organization (AOIYEO) has called on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, to collaborate closely with the Department of State Services (DSS) to profile all youth associations in the FCT.

According to AOIYEO, this recommendation aims to accurately identify and engage with genuine representatives of the FCT youth population.

In a press release on Wednesday, AOIYEO President, Commandant Isaac David, expressed gratitude to Minister Wike for his ongoing advocacy for youth empowerment and his role in establishing the FCT Youth Secretariat.

David emphasized the importance of working with the DSS to verify the legitimacy of youth groups, stating that such profiling will guide the Minister in making informed decisions regarding the secretariat.

“We urge the Minister to conduct thorough background checks on these groups to avoid misinformation and to ensure that the creation of the secretariat meets its intended goals,” David said.

He noted that AOIYEO believes that the secretariat will significantly enhance the sense of belonging among Abuja’s youth and bolster their trust in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

David also advocated for fair representation in the new appointments, suggesting that positions such as the Mandate Secretary of the secretariat or the Public Complaint Commission (PCC) should be allocated to Abuja South.

AOIYEO, which has been a leading youth advocacy group in the FCT for 25 years, praised the Minister for his achievements to date and vowed to continue serving as a bridge between the administration and the FCT’s residents. The organization maintains a robust network across 858 Abuja communities.
