Ebonyi State Police Command has refuted the abduction of the immediate past National President of Ohaneze Youth Council, OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka.
Igboayaka was allegedly kidnapped after close of work at the weekend.
A statement made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, said the alleged abduction was false, as he was arrested for peddling fake information about the recent attack in Ebonyi community.
Ukandu stated that the youth leader, who is currently facing investigation, would be charged to court once investigation is concluded.
“Ebonyi State Police Command is aware of the information circulating in the media alleging the abduction of the president of Ohaneze Youth Council, Comrade on February 8.
“To clarify, Igboayaka was arrested by officers from the command based on a petition submitted to the commissioner of police, which alleged that he disseminated false information capable of truncating peace and destabilising communities in Ebonyi State.
“The command is currently investigating these allegations and once it is concluded, he will be charged to court,” Ukandu stressed.
He emphasised the command’s readiness to continue to carry out its mandate within the discretion of the law and respect for human rights.
