From Damola Adeloye, Ibadan
Former governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, yesterday debunked the allegation by a former Osun State governor, Chief Bisi Akande, regarding his alleged involvement in the unresolved assassination case of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Ajibola Ige.
Ladoja, who stated this yesterday in Ibadan when addressing journalists at his Bodija residence, disclosed that he never obstructed justice in the murder case and had provided full support to the prosecution, even up to the Supreme Court.
It would be recalled that Chief Akande had recently sparked fresh controversy in an interview with veteran broadcaster, Edmund Obilo in Ibadan, where he suggested that Ladoja might have vital information about Ige’s case.
The former Oyo governor therefore, challenged Akande to go public with details of any information he has over Ige’s death.
“I don’t have any hidden knowledge about the death of Chief Ige. I had no problem with him.
“Maybe Chief Akande wants to sell his book. I don’t know. There is no correlation between my election and the death of Ige
“He should come out and tell the public instead of maligning my image. But, all options are open. As Otun Olubadan, I am no more a politician,” he said.
Ladoja challenged Akande to go public with details of any information he has over Ige’s death.
