…Urges protest votes in 2027
By Mike Odiakose, Abuja
An outspoken chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and Security Expert, Dr Lekan Jackson Ojo has described the Sunday national broadcast by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as empty, meaningless and vain display of his oratory prowess.
In his reaction to the presidential broadcast, Ojo said Nigerians were expecting President Tinubu to come up with clear solutions on how to tackle the economic and security challenges facing the country.
According to him, the presidential broadcast is demoralising as it offered nothing meaningful to Nigerians.
“Nigerians are disappointed by the empty speech made by President Tinubu.
“That broadcast was like a car without tire, without engine, and without gear, it remains empty and it is demobilised already.
“It has nothing meaningful. What President did was to display his oratory prowess but then is there anything in the content? No”.
The APC chieftain added that “we don’t expect President Tinubu to go in that direction.
“We were expecting the President to come out to say I will suspend removal of fuel subsidy for the period of maybe six months and for that six months we will support Dangote refinery to work, all our refineries will be working, one modular refinery will be built, deploying soldiers across the country, especially in the North so that farmers can go back to the farms and that will give us food security”.
Ojo, who prior to the commencement of the nationwide protest had advised President Tinubu to listen to Nigerians and revisit some of his policies that have thrown the country into social and economic quagmire, also called on the protesters to be patient and take their pound of flesh in 2027 during the general election.
“I will tell the protesters to go home. There is an opportunity for protest in front. When?
“We will not die, we will continue to manage.
“In 2027 we will do electoral and ballot protest to vote against those people that are killing us now. That protest would have been the best.
Explaining further, Ojo said “That protest will be an effective protest that would bring an effective change and vote against this ‘khakitocracy’ system that we are practicing in this country where looters are becoming kings”.
