Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, said the construction of modern bus terminals will be extended to Gwagwalada and Bwari Area Councils.
This disclosure was made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during the inspection of an ongoing road project linking Ushafa, a community under Bwari Area Council, on Saturday.
Wike said the terminals will be established alongside the ones in Mabushi, Kugbo and the central business area.
The minister stated that the initiative is part of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ aimed at making the territory safer and more organised for residents, especially those in satellite towns.
“We have agreed that we are going to establish one in Gwagwalada and one in Bwari, so that people can board buses or taxis directly to the city from Bwari to Mabushi, Kugbo or the central business area,” he said.
The minister emphasised that the initiative will drastically reduce the menace of “one chance” criminal activities and restore confidence in public transportation.
Wike also revealed that several major infrastructural projects are nearing completion and will be commissioned in alignment with the second anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“We believe that by the first week of June, by the grace of God, we will begin commissioning. Some will be done by Mr President himself, especially key projects in the city and satellite towns,” he disclosed.
He expressed optimism that the commissioning activities will commence shortly after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
