Mr Ayuba Gufwan, Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities ,NCPWD, says he will sustain agitation for adequate inclusion of the disability community in governance structures
Gufwan gave the assurance yesterday in Abuja when he received a delegation from Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption ,ROLAC, a Non Governmental Organisation.
According to Gufwan, the Commission is a product of sustained agitations on the need to have an institution that caters for the socio-political and economic development of PwDs.
He expressed readiness to partner with the ROLAC to champion anti-corruption crusade in the country.
“Corrupt practices undermine progress and objectives of every establishment, and that’s why we will make sure that we are prudent with the resources made available to the Commission”, he said.
Gufwan charged members of staff of NCPWD to be proactive and focused in a quest to achieve the mandate of the Commission.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr Danladi Prang, said they were at the Commission to reaffirm their support and renew their commitment towards improving the quality of lives of PwDs.
Prang said ROLAC would ensure that PwDs have access to justice.
He also narrated the efforts ROLAC made through advocacy to ensure the realisation and enactment of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities Act 2018.
