Youth Reformation and Leadership Development Foundation, YRLDF, has responded to the recent allegations made by Young Guardians of Accountability, YGA, against the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, stating that the accusations are misguided and an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
In a statement, the National President of YRLDF Dr Awwal Abdullahi, emphasised that politics is a vocation, not a business and that the minister has demonstrated commitment to serve the nation.
Abdullahi urged YGA to focus on constructive investigation, starting from the grassroots, rather than making unfounded allegations.
“The statement maintained that “Engagement in private business activities. The minister’s business activities are well-established and transparent, with no new ventures undertaken while in office.
“His directorship roles are passive, with no influence exerted on business decisions. The minister’s involvement with BDCs is legitimate and governed by financial laws and regulations.
“The minister’s filing of annual returns confirms his transparency and commitment to accountability. These reputable agencies have scrutinised his activities, finding no evidence of wrongdoings.
The national president called on YGA to be more nationalistic, realistic and constructive in their anti-corruption advocacy, urging them to build the nation rather than disintegrate it.
The Foundation requested anti-graft agencies to investigate YGA, as we are suspecting that they are stooges of some persons that are not comfortable with the successes of the Ministry of Defence under the watch of Badaru.
“Youth Reformation and Leadership Development Foundation stands by the minister and commend his commitment to serve the nation.”
