National Ngizim Youth Forum has condemned the killing of 16 travellers in Edo State, describing the act as heinous and senseless.
A statement signed by the National Secretary-General, Prince Abali Atiyaye, which was made available to newsmen in Potiskum, Yobe State, expressed sorrow over the brutal killings, describing it as “a dark stain on the conscience of our nation.”
According to Atiyaye, “We are utterly dismayed and heartbroken by this gruesome act of violence, which has left an indelible scar on the families of the victims and the entire Northern Nigeria.”
The forum called on the relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice, ensure the safety and security of all citizens, and prevent such senseless violence from recurring.
“We demand justice for the victims and their families, and we urge government to take concrete steps to address the underlying issues that led to this tragedy,” the statement said.
It also extended its condolences to the families of the victims and the entire nation, praying that the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.
