A socio-political group in Osun State, Osun Democrats for Democracy ,ODD, yesterday decried the call by one Mr Jelil Adesiyan for the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

Responding to Adesiyan’s call for state of emergency in Osun state, the group in a statement by its Publicity Director, Arákùnrin James Bamgbose, disclosed that the State is progressing and there is no basis for declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

“Ode-Omu, where Adesiyan hails from, has benefited immensely from the current administration. Yet, the expired politician is angry about the ongoing  delivery of democratic dividends even to his own people.

“Cooperative College, Ode-Omu has just been upgraded to a Degree awarding institution while several internal roads are being constructed in the town. While Adesiyan failed to bring good governance to his people, Governor Adeleke has positively touched Ode-Omu.

“We expect Adesiyan to commend Governor Adeleke for his delivery of democratic dividends instead of his frustrated clamour for a state of emergency. Osun of today is truly not what Adesiyan used to know.

“Osun has witnessed rapid development across all sectors in the last two years. Major towns are being upgraded. Half salaries and pension debts which Adesiyan’s party refused to pay are being paid. Health and school facilities are being upgraded and renovated.

“His agitation for a state of emergency is therefore the ranting of an outdated politician who is not in touch with the reality of today’s Osun State and who hates the good life Osun is experiencing under the current administration. Even within his APC, nobody takes him seriously as the man cannot even deliver his voting unit.

“We urge men and women of goodwill to ignore the reprehensible statement. Osun is progressing and there is no basis for declaration of a state of emergency”, the statement concluded.
