Gov Sule Appoints 2 NASIEC Members

Nasarawa State Gov, Abdullahi Sule has appointed two members of Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission ,NASIEC, that would assist in conducting a free and fair  LG elections in the state.

The Governor said that their appointments followed the expiration of the tenure of two members of the commission.

Mr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House of Assembly made the announcement while reading the governor’s letter during the House proceedings on Monday in Lafia.

The Speaker mentioned Abubakar B. Yarima from Wamba LGA and Muktar Angabshim from Nassarawa Eggon LGA as the new NASIEC members.

” The appointments of Abubakar Bala Yarima from Wamba LGA and Muktar Mamman Angbashim from Nasarawa Eggon LGA as new NASIEC members followed the expiration of the tenure of Mr Usman Ibrahim Galle from Nasarawa Eggon LGA and Abubakar Bala Yarima from Wamba LGA on the 16th April, 2024,” he said

The Speaker directed the nominees to submit 30 copies of their Curriculum Vitae ,VC, on or before Friday this week and appear for screening on July 15.

In a related development, the State House of Assembly has passed into first reading” A Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Adult and Non-formal Education Agency and for Purposes Connected Therewith”

The Speaker, during plenary announced that the Bill has  passed to first reading during the House proceedings.

He slated July 22, for the second reading of the bill.

Earlier, Mr Suleiman Azara, the Majority Leader of the House, moved a motion for the bill to scale first reading and was seconded by Mr  Luka  Zhekaba, the Minority Leader.

The House unanimously passed the bill into first reading.
