Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi has bestowed Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris with Fellowship Award for his remarkable contributions and service to education and humanity.
Among those recognized were Alhaji AbdulSamad Isiyaku Rabiu – the founder of BUA Group, and His Royal Highness, Alhaji Haruna Rasheed, the late Emir of Gwandu, Posthumous.
The 14th Joint Convocation ceremony saw the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, as the Special Guest of Honour. In his address to the graduating students, Abbas urged them to strive to become employers of labor rather than relying on traditional white-collar jobs.
He emphasized the importance of being self-reliant and building their own careers with the skills and knowledge acquired from the Polytechnic.
Acknowledging the achievements of the institution, Abbas commended the management for their dedication to excellence and urged them to continue on the path of progress.
He also praised Governor Nasir Idris, hailing him as a reliable friend and a standout leader among his peers.
Representing President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Yusuf Sununu, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the education sector.
He applauded the Polytechnic for its strides in infrastructural development and academic excellence, noting its designation as a Center of Excellence on Renewable Energy.
Dr. Usman Tunga, the Rector of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for their support in improving the institution’s facilities and academic offerings.
He announced the Polytechnic’s affiliation with the Federal University in Birnin Kebbi to offer BSC Degree courses in various disciplines, further enhancing the educational opportunities available to students.
With a total of 4,888 graduands receiving Higher National Diploma, National Diploma, and National Certificate in Education, the 14th Convocation ceremony marked a significant milestone for Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.
As the graduates embark on their professional journeys, they carry with them the knowledge and skills to shape their own futures and contribute to the growth and development of society.
