Gov Eno Hails Peaceful Congress As New Akwa Ibom PDP SWC Emerges

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has applauded the hitch-free outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, congress, leading to the emergence of a new State Working Committee, SWC, leaders to run the affairs of the party in the state state’s ruling party for the next four years.

The Governor, who was at the Uyo Township Stadium, venue of the event with the immediate past governor, Udom Emmanuel and other members of his executive council, elders and stakeholders, charged the newly-elected officials to break new grounds and conquer territories in order to expand the membership base of the party ahead of his envisaged reelection in 2027.

He congratulated the reelected chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, and the other officials for their successful elections, and urged them to surpass the strides of the erstwhile executive.

The Governor assured that he would continue to lead the state with integrity and honesty, adding that his administration “will remain responsive and responsible, while continuing to galvanise the youths as well as other Akwa Ibom people to arise in the interest of their welfare, peace and overall development of the state”.

He lauded the hard work and diligent service of the immediate past leadership for leading the party to victory in various elections during their tenure.

Eno particularly commended the former Governor Emmanuel for providing the needed leadership that led to his emergence as governor in 2023, and appreciated him for taking part in the congress. 

The Governor also thanked the representative from the national secretariat, and the congress organising committee, led by Engr Uwem Okoko, for what he described as “a well organised congress”.

In his speech, former governor Emmanuel Udom appreciated the party leadership for successfully driving the party to success and supporting Pastor  Eno to victory in the 2023 elections and pledged his continuous support for the new leadership to succeed on their mandate.

In his acceptance speech, Elder Akpan assured that the new executive would work together to maintain the winning history of the party and more importantly, to ensure the re-election of governor Eno in 2027.
