Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has expressed deep sadness over the sudden death of Senator Joseph Akaagerger on May 15 at the age of 69.
Governor Alia, in a statement yesterday signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, described the late senator as a patriotic Nigerian who served the nation and Benue State with distinction.
The governor recalled as a retired Lieutenant Colonel, Akaagerger served as military administrator of Katsina State, and later as senator representing Benue North-East with distinction.
He praised the late lawmaker’s contributions to the state, particularly his counsel and engagement as an elder statesman and prominent member of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Elders Forum in the state.
He noted that Akaagerger’s legacy would be deeply missed by the state.
Governor Alia prayed that God consoles the senator’s immediate family, associates and the entire people of Benue State and Nigeria.
He urged them to take comfort in the legacies left behind and build on them to honour his memory.
