Gombe Commissioner For Health Commends Rotary For Media Training On RMCH

Gombe state Commissioner for Health Dr Habu Dahiru has commended Rotary International for organizing a 3 day’ workshop for Journalists on effective coverage of Reproductive maternal and Child Health (RMCH) .

Habu Dahiru, gave the commendation in an interview with the news men in Gombe.

He said the importance of the training cannot be overemphasized, “Especially for health reporters like you.”

He said the workshop was timely considering the fact that, the training is the bedrock for effective health coverage, “This is because the training will broaden your horizons, you will be able to educate the public on various health programmes.

He implored the participants to be cautious of reporting issues that have to do with outbreak of disease. ”Do it professionally, avoid exaggerating figures,” he said.

He advised the participants to concentrate and learn what they would be taught.

He further commended Rotary International for indicating interest in partnering with Gombe state government.

Dahiru, said the high rate of maternal mortality in the state is an issue of concern, hence the need for reducing it to the barest minimum.

According to him, Gombe has 114 functional Primary health care centers PHC and each one has qualified midwives and in all general hospitals, Maternity and Labour Room were expanded and also have trained personnel that handle the cases on how to reduce maternal mortality.
