Anora emerged as the evening’s standout, securing five awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Sean Baker. Adrien Brody’s portrayal in The Brutalist earned him Best Actor, while Mikey Madison’s performance in Anora garnered her the Best Actress award. Notably, Zoe Saldaña made history as the first Dominican American to win an Oscar, receiving Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Pérez. Additionally, Flow became Latvia’s first Academy Award-winning film, taking home Best Animated Feature Film. Paul Tazewell also made history as the first Black man to win Best Costume Design for his work on Wicked.
The ceremony honored special awardees, including Juliet Taylor and Quincy Jones with Honorary Awards, Richard Curtis with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award for their contributions to the James Bond franchise.
The event was broadcast on ABC and, for the first time, streamed live on Hulu.
