Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara has presented the 2025 budget proposal to a faction of the House of Assembly.
Fubara presented the N1.1 trillion budget yesterday to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led Assembly, which had earlier read the governor’s letter requesting permission to present the appropriation bill during plenary yesterday.
This marks Fubara’s second budget presentation since assuming office.
The governor had presented the 2024 state appropriation bill of N800 billion in 2023 to a four-man Assembly led by the Speaker, Edison Ehie.
He made the presentation amid the sudden demolition of parts of the Assembly Complex.
This followed the defection of 27 members, led by the fractional Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The lawmakers had defected to APC, following the face-off between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Ehie eventually resigned from the Assembly, after which Fubara appointed him as Chief of Staff.
