Former Adamawa Governor, Bindow, Dumps APC Over Internal Wranglings

From Dolphin Max Stanley, Yola

Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, the immediate past governor of Adamawa State has blamed his final exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the lack of capacity of the leadership of the party to reconcile aggrieved members and resolve the crippling crises stampeding the growth and success of the party in the forthcoming general elections.

Only recently, the Party’s Chairman of Yola South Local Government, has been under intensed pressure for endorsing the suspension of Mustapha Ribadu, the Organizing Secretary of the party.

The same internal crises in the Party had earlier compelled Senator Binani to tender her resignation from the leadership of the Presidential Campaign Council team of the party in the state to douse tension and to give room for the emergence of Hon Martins Babale, a former Deputy Governor as the new coordinator of the PCC in the state.

Senator Bindow who has already shown signs of pitching camp with the PDP was last elected as governor of Adamawa State under the platform of APC between 2015 to 2019 but was defeated in his second term bid by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bindow during a gubernatorial contest with four others  failed to clinch the 2022 gubernatorial ticket of the party and eventually lost out to the only female contestant, Senator Binani.

The governor was reported to have since tendered his resignation letter to his Kolere ward party executive to announce his final exit from the party due to what he described as lack of capacity to manage internal crises since the party primaries.

Senator Bindow in a letter to the chairman of APC Kolere ward, Mubi North local government of Adamawa State, said he had to take the painful decision after intense prayers and wide consultations with family members, stakeholders, followers and associates within and outside Adamawa state.

He said the unfortunate event of the 2019 general election and the 2022 Governorship primaries among many reasons led to his painful exit from APC.

The former governor said lack of genuine reconciliation with aggrieved stakeholders within the party in the state since the last Primaries made him to tow the painful path.

“While thanking you and the party, I wish to also inform you that my faithful supporters will be joining me across the state in leaving the party so as to Champion a cause of building a harmonious Adamawa state that will enshrine unity in our diversity toward a collective development as a people”, he said

AljazirahNigeria reports that a political support group loyal to the ex-governor under the aegis of Bindow Support Group have since defected to PDP and invariably launched it’s campaign for the success of Atiku and Fintiri ambitions in the 2023 general elections.
