Federal government has constituted a technical committee to review all existing dams in the country.

Approval for the setting up of the committee was in response to the recent flooding in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, and its environs.

This was disclosed yesterday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Ibrahim Mohammed, after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu.

Mohammed said FEC approved the technical committee to enable the country mitigate issues that necessitate flooding.

According to the minister, government is not unmindful that some of the dams which were constructed some decades ago might be in need of maintenance, hence the need for the technical committee to review their durability.
