Flood: Zulum Constitutes 32-man C’ttee On Relief Disbursement

Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has constituted a 32-man committee to coordinate government’s intervention on victims of flooding in Maiduguri and environs.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Bukar Tijjani, said the committee would have the Special Adviser to the governor on Monitoring/Evaluation, Engr Baba Gujubawu, as chairman, and Professor Ibrahim Umara of the University of Maiduguri as co-chairman.

Representatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, and the Nigeria Police Force are named as members.

Other members are representatives of the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, North-East Development Commission, NEDC, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development and Poverty Alleviation.

The statement added that representatives of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Professor Muhammad Alhaji Abubakar, Nasiru Ali Surundi, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Borno State Environmental Protection Agency, BOSEPA, would also serve as members of the committee.

Also, the Shehu of Borno, representatives of development partners such as UNDP, UNOCHA, FAO, WFP, UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM and civil society organisations are members of the disbursement committee.

Other representatives include the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Jama’atul Nasril Islam, JNI, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

The governor urged the committee to use the opportunity to serve their people by executing the task with commitment and transparency.
