Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, led by its Chairman and Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman AbdulRazak, yesterday, visited Maiduguri to commiserate with Governor Babagana Zulum and the people of the state over the flood that ravaged most parts of the state, especially the state capital.
The chairman and his entourage, who paid a courtesy call on Governor Zulum at the Government House, Maiduguri, expressed their sympathy and condolences to the governor, government and people of Borno for the loss and destruction caused by the flooding in the state due to break by Alau Dam.
In his response, Governor Zulum thanked the forum for the show of concern on the state’s affairs, expressing his appreciation for their visit .
Zulum took the five visiting governors on a special tour of the city to assess the situation on the ground and the extent of the damage caused by the flood disaster.
The governors witnessed firsthand the devastation caused by the flooding, including the destruction of Houses, farmland, businesses, and others infrastructure. They also moved to areas of the displacement persons saw the level of suffering of the affected communities.
Governor zulum added that the visit by the NGF was a show of solidarity and support for the people of Borno State in its time of need.
He noted that the visit demonstrated the commitment of the governors forum to stand together and support each other in times of crisis.
The entourage offered a special prayers for the repose of those who lost their lives and for God continue to grant the entire good people of the state the fortitude to bear the loss.
The governors on the visit include those of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo.
