FG Set To Commission North West Data Center In Kano

The Federal Government want to commission the north west data center in Kano by June this year.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami announced this on Saturday shortly after inspecting the project in Kano.

He said the centre was constructed by Galaxy Backbone, a Company under the Ministry of Communications to serve North West geopolitical zone.

“The memory capacity of the initial storage is around 41 Terabyte and 2.2 Pentabite storage facility, which is of phase one, two and three, and we have them in Abuja and South already”.he said

Pantami noted that the north west zone data center in Kano is the higher grade version of the data center.

Although the Minister did not give the actual projects fund, he explained that the whole projects is one aspect of the whole data center project in the country.

“We are doing these projects to provide more facilities for private and public storage, so that all information would be captured in the data center, which is the upgrade of the existing third tier centers we have in Abuja and South”.

Pantami hinted that by June the center would be ready while offices and remaining facilities would be completed and commission by March 2022.
