Federal Government has inaugurated the governing council of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria ,CIPMN, urging the body to play a more proactive role in fostering industrial growth.

The Minister of State for Industry, Sen. John Enoh, who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Policy and Government, Dr. Adedeji Adeshile, Tuesday in Abuja, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing local industries .

He highlighted that the government had earlier outlined an industrial agenda focused on boosting automobile manufacturing and driving in-country industrialisation.

“I bring good tidings and encouragement to the newly inaugurated global council. This year, we released an agenda to support industrialisation, and we are counting on the council to help drive this vision forward”, Enoh said.

He expressed confidence in the council’s ability to advance the country’s industrial goals and called for collaboration among stakeholders to achieve national objectives.

Mr. Henry Mbadiwe, Director-General of CIPMN, expressed appreciation to the minister for his presence and underscored the institute’s crucial role in regulating project management across Nigeria.

“CIPMN is the sole regulatory body overseeing project management activities across all sectors. Project management isn’t limited to construction; it spans healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, and business transformation”, Mbadiwe explained.

He added that the institute, established by an act of the National Assembly and recognised by the President, was tasked with ensuring that all project managers in Nigeria are licensed.

“To lead project delivery in this country, you must be licensed by this institute,” Mbadiwe stated.

He further noted that regulations set by CIPMN would be gazetted and enforced as law.

The inauguration, attended by key industry stakeholders, represented a significant step in strengthening project management practices and advancing industrial development in Nigeria.

On behalf of the Council members, CIPMN President Emmanuel Afolayan pledged the members’ dedication to fulfilling the institute’s mandate.

“Our mandate is clear, and with the grace of God, we will adhere to it and do everything possible to ensure a better Nigeria for all its citizens”, Afolayan assured.
