Federal government, through the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, has appointed new medical directors for some Federal Medical Centres, FMCs, in the northern part of the country.
Dr Haruna Shehu is the new Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, Kaduna State, while Dr Ali Mohammed was appointed the Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, Hawul, Borno State.
Speaking during the brief ceremony, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Salako said the president expects the highest level of dedication from the newly appointed medical directors.
According to him, “These are new hospitals; so obviously you will face some teething problems: and Kafanchan is very very special to Mr President because of his keen interest in that part of Kaduna State. You know he has also established a federal university in that senatorial district in view of his special interest.”
He urged them to charge forward with unwavering dedication and determination towards projecting the agenda of Mr President in the health sector, saying they should relate very well with stakeholders in the community who are the owners of those facilities.
“Of course, you should also relate very well with the ministry through the Hospital Services Department. So, being the chief medical director of a new facility, which could be demanding, I believe you are up to the task. My prayer is that you will succeed in every ramification,” Salako admonished.
In his vote of thanks, Dr Shehu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment and trust reposed on them.
He pledged their dedication and commitment in ensuring that the agenda of the president for the health sector is achieved.
