In a significant boost to educational infrastructure, Governor Nasir Idris has commissioned a series of developmental projects at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic in Birnin-Kebbi.
Accompanied by Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, the State Minister of Education, and Dr. Usman Tunga, the Rector of the institution, Governor Nasir Idris expressed admiration for the transformative changes witnessed at the polytechnic.
The commissioned projects include a 1.2-kilometer road network, an access gate, and modern lecture theatres.
Governor Nasir Idris praised the management of the institution for effectively utilizing funds allocated by TETFUND, emphasizing that the polytechnic has undergone a remarkable facelift and upgrade.
Minister Yusuf Tanko Sununu also contributed to the occasion by inaugurating a state-of-the-art twin lecture theatre building capable of accommodating 600 students.
He commended the polytechnic for maintaining high standards of construction quality and transparency throughout the project execution. Minister Sununu reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the institution in its technological innovation and research initiatives.
In response, Rector Dr. Usman Tunga credited the achievements of the polytechnic to the unwavering support from the Federal Government and TETFUND.
He highlighted that all newly constructed lecture theatres were funded by TETFUND in 2022 and 2023, amounting to substantial financial investment. Dr. Tunga expressed gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris, Minister Yusuf Tanko Sununu, and the Federal Government for their collaboration, which he affirmed had enabled the polytechnic to realize its developmental goals.
The commissioning ceremony underscores a significant milestone for Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, marking a period of enhanced infrastructure and expanded educational opportunities for its students and faculty.
