Federal Lawmaker Congratulates New IGP Baba

The federal lawmaker in the House of Representative, and chairman House committee on North east development commission, representing Damaturu, Gulani, Gujba and Tarmuwa federal constituency of Yobe state, Hon Hajiya Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, has congratulated Zanna Usman Alkali Baba on his appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police.

Mrs Khadija Bukar who disclosed this in her statement, which was made available to Newsmen, described Zanna as a man of impeccable character, saying that his appointment is well deserved.

She statement further added that, “the appointment is well deserved, considering the personal accomplishments of the man, he would bring professionalism and true leadership to policing in the country” she said.

She therefore said, “I wish to expressed my gratitude, We can attest to his solid pedigree and rich experience. He is arguably, the most qualified serving Police officer in this time to occupy the very sensitive office of the Nigerian police.

The member who said, “I personally, wishes that the new top cop will harness his experiences from previous offices, at home and abroad, with dexterity to curb crime, ensure peace in the entire country and once again propound the policing principles that will lead Nigerians to believe that police is their friend.”

She appealed to the new acting Inspector General of police to deployed more police Personnel to Yobe state, as well as the north-east region inorder to deal with remaining suspected members of  Boko Haram terrorists.

Hon Khadija also urged people of the state to continue giving useful information to the security operatives in the state, as well as support and maximise cooperation to security agencies.

AljazirahNigeria learnt that the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, psc , fdc holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) and a BA (ED) in Political Science.

Born in 1963, Alkali joined the Nigeria Police Officer in 1988 as an ASP.

He is a fellow of the National Defence College (NDC) and a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Alkali attended several professional courses/workshops.

The Yobe State-born officer has held several strategic positions in the past which included: Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Zone-5 Benin, Zone-4 Makurdi, Zone-7 Abuja, Commissioner of Police FCT and Delta Commands, amongst others.

Until his recent appointment as acting IGP, he was DIG, Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID).

He was ag. DIG in-charge Finance and Administration and also had a stint as Force Secretary.
