The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike has flagged off construction of a three kilometre access road to Giri District in Abuja on Thusday.

During the flagged-off ceremony, the Minister explained that the construction of the access road would be beneficial not only to the people who reside in the area but entire residents of the territory.

He assured of adequate funding of the project so that it will be completed before President Tinubu’s second anniversary in office.

His words: “We are constructing this road to open up access and develop the area, and of course, EFCC is one of the beneficiaries. I am sure some of you that own plots here will also benefit from this road. So let it not be said that we are building a road for EFCC. We are not building road for the EFCC.”

“The essence of the road is not for EFCC, but it’s to open up areas, which they are also going to benefit for the fact that their Academy is also located in this area. The community will also benefit, people will now come and build houses, farmers will bring their produce to the city. That’s the whole essence of opening up everywhere,” he said.

The Minister, therefore, thanked President Bola Tinubiu for his support in carrying out all the infrastructural and administrative development in the FCT.

Wike stressed that people were yet to move into the area due to lack of access road; adding that government was also hoping to achieve decongestion of the City Centre by opening up the Area Councils and Satellite Towns.

Acting Head of Service, FCTA, Grace Adayilo, in he vote of thank thanked President Tinubu for making it possible for the Minister to execute many infrastructural development across the Territory simultaneously.
