Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board, FCT-UBEB, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media that it is recruiting teachers.
Its Public Relations Officer, Patience Ossai, in a statement yesterday, described the rumours as false and a ploy by fraudulent people to extort money from unsuspecting job seekers.
According to Ossai, the board has not advertised teaching vacancies and has not requested applications for employment.
“The public is advised to beware of such unscrupulous elements and to check the official website of the board for genuine information and updates,” she said.
Ossai assured that whenever teaching vacancies arise, the board will follow due process and advertise the positions through official channels.
“The attention of the board has been drawn to a purported news being circulated on social media that it has advertised for teaching vacancies.
āThis news item is false and did not originate from the board.
āIt is a ploy by fraudulent people to extort money from unsuspecting job seekers.
āThe public is therefore warned to beware of such unscrupulous elements as the board has not requested for applications for teaching employment.
āFCT-UBEB will follow due process any time such vacancies exist.
āThe public is therefore advised to check the official website for genuine information and update,ā the statement added.
