Contrary to what has been the practice in the past whereby land allotees in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have to wait endlessly to get their land title document, it is now taking two weeks to complete the process, courtesy of the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike.

This is as the Minister have also signed over 5000 Certificates of Occupancy (Cs-of-O) in one year.

Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, disclosed this in a Press Statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Tuesday.

According to the statement: “As at December 31, 2024, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has signed a total of 5,481 Certificates of Occupancy (Cs-of-O).

“This is 2,919 less than the total number of Cs-of-O printed and signed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) from 2010 to 2023 (13 years).

“The moment necessary payments are made, land allottees can now get their Cs-of-O within two weeks,” the statement said.

The media aide noted that the hitherto unwillingness on the part of land allottees to pay for the document was because of the delay in making the certificates ready.

He added that President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ was positively changing the narratives in the FCT.

He revealed that, in the last 15 years, only 5,655 Certificates of Occupancy were produced and signed between May 2010 and May 2015; 1,174 between May 2015 and May 2019; while a total of 1,571 was signed between May 2019 and May 2023.

According to him, from May 2023 when President Tinubu assumed office to December 31, 2024, a total of 5,481 Certificates of Occupancy were produced and signed by the FCT Minister.

Olayinka assured land allottees whose Certificates of Occupancy were ready for collection that they would be contacted via automated SMS in case they are not aware.
