The Troops of the Nigerian Army’s operation Hadin Kai, have confirmed the arrest of a man identified as Ebenezer Odeh who claimed to be a police officer, and was found in possession of illegal ammunition at military checkpoint along Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway.

The Commander, DY Chiwar, of the battalion, had directed troops to search and arrest Odeh, after noticing suspicious movement the suspect.

A credible military source disclosed to AljazirahNigeria that the man was arrested at a checkpoint by Nigerian troops from 154 task battalion Ngamdu, along Damaturu-  Maiduguri highway on Sunday.

According to the source, the suspect with NPF No: 456647 boarded a Borno Express bus heading to Abuja he was arrested at a checking point,” the military source said.

A passenger of the Bus, who pleaded anonymity said, “The vehicle was waiting for its turn to be passed at the checking point, the suspect dropped from our bus and claimed he wanted to ease himself.

“On searching the bag, about 220 rounds of 7.62mm special, 1× hand  grenade a dagger and other items were discovered.”

Another passenger said during interrogated by the military, the suspect was eventually said to have claimed to be a member of the Nigerian Police Special weapons tactical team (SWAT) from the mobile police Force, 19 Unit, Rivers State.
