Former Ogun State Governor and the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for conclusion of the Gateway International Agro-Cargo airport project in the state.
Daniel who was speaking at an event organised by members of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) Ogun State Chapter on Tuesday tagged “Dialogue With Journalists”, praised Abiodun for finishing the construction of the airport approved during his administration in 2008.
The ex-governor, while advocating for continuity of abandoned projects including Olokola Deep Sea port and Ogun Guandoung in Igbesa, urged successive governments not to abandoned projects of previous administrations due to political rivalry for development of the state.
He said governors are owners of any projects whether state or federal, insisting that for any project to succeed it required the efforts of the sitting governor to make the dream a reality for the benefits of the people in the state
The Senator said” I will continue to praise the governor for continuing as far as that airport project is concerned, and by the special grace of God air craft have started landing in Ogun State, somebody is asking who started the project is not important who started it, but if you are in Ogun State you must know the history not that airport project, I don’t want to waste your time to be talking about who started it, the proper thing is that we are happy, that finally that airport project is being concluded.
“But if you need to have information, I can inform you that the approval in which that airport is being built was obtained in 2008. Still on abandoned projects, Olokola, Ogun Guandoung, the owner of the projects, all the projects is the governor even the federal project belongs to the that governor” he added
Earlier, the state Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju asked the former governor to allow peace reign following the rift between him and the incumbent governor over who started the airport project.
