Emir Of Kano Canvases Mass Vaccination Campaign On COVID-19

Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero has on Sunday launched mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19 at Fanisau, Ungogo local government area.

The programme was organized by United Nations Children Funds UNICEF in collaboration with Kano state government and Kano Emirate committee on health.

The Emir emphasised the need for all hands to be on deck towards ensuring proper healthcare service delivery in semi urban areas.

He started that, “Our people should go out and get vaccinated against COVID-19 and other diseases. Vaccines are safe and effective.”

The event also featured on maternal and child health, routine immunization intensification, COVID-19 vaccination enhancement and zero dose implementation in five local government areas of the state.

Bayero lamented on how the community is facing health challenges such as polio vaccines, malnutrition and maternal mortality.

He appreciated the efforts of the UNICEF, the Kano state government and other stakeholders for their consistent support and intervention in health subsector.

He noted that Kano Emirate will not relent in it’s effort of ensuring healthy society.

Others who spoke at the occasion include the representative of the Unicef in Nigeria Moulud Warfa and commissioner for Health Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa.
