Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has resumed duty after an annual vacation abroad with renewed vigour to work, Director, Corporate Communications Osita Nwanisobi has said.

In a statement yesterday, Nwanisobi noted that the apex bank boss, who proceeded on leave in December 2022, resumed work January 16, 2023.

He stated that Emefiele “resumed with renewed vigour to perform his duties ahead of the first Monetary Policy Committee, MPC, meeting of the year scheduled for January 23 to 24, 2023”.

The Director also assured that, “Emefiele remains committed to performing the task before him in line with his oath of office and the policy direction of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration”.

Nwanisobi appreciated the public for keeping faith with the Bank, while also urging Nigerians to continue to support the policies of the Bank aimed at ensuring a stable financial system and the Nigerian economy in general.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Services, DSS, has dismissed “false news making the rounds that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor yesterday”.

Public Relations Officer of the service, Dr Peter Afunanya, who made this known in a statement, described the development as “fake news and quite misleading”.
