Benue State Commissioner of Police, Hassan Yabanet has ordered the deployment of police officers across the state to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Yabanet, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene and made available to journalists at the weekend in Makurdi, warned all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, DPOs, and Tactical Commanders to put in place adequate security measures within their areas of responsibility and ensure strict supervision during the festive period.
The commissioner specifically directed that all mosques or prayer grounds, event centres, as well as entry and exit routes in Benue State must and be properly manned by officers.
The statement equally advised parents, guardians, religious and traditional rulers to warn their children, wards or subjects to be law abiding during the period, adding that the command would not tolerate any act capable of causing breach of peace during this period.
He enjoined members of the public to cooperate with the police and other security agencies to ensure a crime-free celebration.
While felicitating the Muslim community as they celebrate the festival, the commissioner assured them of adequate security of lives and property.
