Edo Varsity Appoints Prof Egbeto As Acting VC

Edo State University, EDSU, Uzairue, has appointed Professor Dawood Egbefo as the new Acting Vice Chancellor.

Professor Egbefo’s appointment followed the retirement of Professor Emmanuel Aluyor on Tuesday, having served for eight years and six months.

Professor Aluyor, who bowed out at a valedictory session of the senate of the institution, received encomiums from the management.

In his address, Egbefo lauded the leadership qualities of the former vice chancellor in the last eight years and six months and wished him well in his future endeavours. 

He described Aluyor as a distinguished academic whose tenure witnessed growth and development.

“I am fully aware of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and I pledge to work diligently with all of you to ensure our continued success and growth, adding that the university is a beacon of academic excellence, innovation, teaching, research and community engagement and promised to sustained it.

“The strength of our university lies in our ability to work together, leveraging our collective expertise and diverse perspectives. I am committed to fostering an environment of open communication and mutual respect. By collaborating closely, we can make informed decisions that benefit our entire community,” he said.

Professor Egbefo encouraged everyone to share their ideas, concerns and suggestions openly, as their inputs are crucial to his success, adding that in an ever-changing world, our ability to adapt and thrive is paramount.
