Edo State Police Command has commenced house-to-house arrest of identified cult members, as part of its fight against cultism.

Besides, it said it sustained its fight against crime through visibility policing, community engagements and sustained raids of criminal hideouts.

The command’ spokesman, Moses Yamu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

He noted that the efforts had yielded fruit, following the arrest of 28 suspects during a raid on criminal hideouts within Benin-City, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, between 4 and 10 pm.

He further disclosed that the suspects were professionally screened, and 19 of them found implicated, and were charged to court.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police , Monday Agbonika, has warned all cult members to either denounce cultism and turn a new leaf, or  relocate from the state or face the full wrath of the law as contained in the Edo State Secret Cult and other related activities prohibition law.

Aljazirah Nigeria recalls that not less than 200  youths has been killed in the state as a result of cult related crisis.
