Edo Police Command Parades 15 Cultists, 2 Armed Robbery Suspects

The Edo State Police Command in its effort to make Edo safe for the people recorded another breakthrough in crime prevention in the state with the arrest of 15 Cultists and 2 Armed Robbery Suspects by the combine patrol team and anti-cultist unit of the command.

This was disclosed  by the command Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor who spoke on behalf of the Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Abutu Yaro while parading the suspects in the Command Headquarters in Benin City.

He said the police patrol team and the anti cult unit acted on a distress call and Visibility Patrol in Benin Metropolis, heard that some group of boys suspected to be cultists  gathered some where in Obagie Iyobosa, Siluko/Ogida areas, adding that the officers quickly swung into action and arrested them.

Nwabuzor  further said that the items recovered from the suspects includes fire arms like one locally made pistol, one pump Action, one double barrel, face caps, flag, all belonging to the secret cult group. He added that when the police got to their hideout they interrogated them and they all made confessional statements of being members of Eiye secret cult and some other secret groups.

Also paraded were two armed robbery Suspects arrested at Aduwawa area of Benin City in connection with  snatching of one Toyota Camry car whose registration number was not disclosed due to security reasons.

The Command PPRO said the investigation is on as the suspects have already made some useful information that they are four man gang that carried out the robbery. 

Continuing, Nwabuzor said the robbers also confessed one mechanic that is involved as an accomplice in the dismantling of the vehicle so that the owner will no longer recognize the vehicle
