…Dismisses Call For His Resignation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians and Edo State people in particular, to ignore the call on the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Honourable Philip Shaibu to resign his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), because of his open declaration of support for Senator Monday Okpebholo, candidate of the APC.
The party in a statement signed by Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo, Director of Publicity, APC
Campaign Council, and made available to journalists in Benin City,
said, that PDP is yet to understand the hurricane that has happened in their party.
Comrade OmO-Ojo, said , “virtually everyone with political relevance have left PDP and those left are only lying wait as undertakers to bury them.”
Stating that, rather than ask Shaibu to resign, PDP should suspend their outgoing governor, Obaseki for leading them to political obscurity in Edo State.
The PDP has asked for Shaibu to resign his membership of the party,
as it was contradictory for Shaibu to remain in the PDP and be demarketing the party’s governorship candidate, urging him to rather resign his membership.
Shaibu, a PDP member, had declared on Sunday that he would be supporting the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Monday Okpebholo, in the September 21 governorship election in the state.
“Comrade Philip Shaibu is an Iroko, a true definition of homeboy and a political giant in the state, like the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo”.
He further said, PDP should concentrate energy on how to tell Edo people what new thing Asue Ighodalo and his running mate intends to bring on board after both have served the state for 28 years without any major development, especially with the terrible scorecard of Governor Obaseki that has set back the fortunes of our dear state.
According to him, The only sane thing left for PDP, is to join Obaseki and Ighodalo on a pleading tour of the state and beg for forgiveness, especially after last week’s confession by the state government that question papers for Basic Examination in the state was leaked to Public School teachers in the state, which eventually ended up with maize sellers.
Orobosa Omo-Ojo urged the Edo State Government to immediately set up an independent panel of enquiry to investigate the circumstances that led to the series of examination questions leakages that have trailed Edo Best education programme since 2020.
