Ebubeagu Disbursement: PDP Chieftain Raises The Alarm Over Umahi’s Renewed Plots

From CHARLES ONYEKWERE, ABAKALIKI
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ebonyi state, Chief Abia Onyike, has raised fresh alarm over Governor David Umahi’s alleged renewed plots regarding the recent judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Abakiliki, which disbanded Ebubeagu security outfit in the state.
Onyike, reacting to Umahi’s organized press conference where he asked Ebonyians that despite the disbandment of Ebubeagu, he had formed two new security outfits, while waiting for a stay of Execution at the court of appeal.
The former commissioner of information stated this on Monday in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Abakiliki.
According to Onyike, one would have expected Gov Umahi to apologise to the traumatised families whose loved ones were killed, maimed, illegally detained, brutalised, abducted, kidnapped and subjected to several forms of inhuman treatment.
The Chieftain who is the Director, Media and Publicity of PDP campaign organisation, stated that many innocent citizens of the state are still languishing in jail as a result of the excesses of Ebubeagu and called for their unconditional released.
“Now, Gov Umahi should take note that he has no other alternative than to obey the court order which was a declaratory in nature on the vexed issue of human rights abuses.
“He should note that there is an “Order of Perpetual Injunction Restraining him, his Government and their agents or privies from recognizing, parading or continuing to recognize or parade any person or persons as a state or regional security outfit in the guise of any security agency.
“Govenor Umahi’s continued parade of his so-called two new security outfits is a violation of the above orders of the Court and therefore amounts to CONTEMPT OF COURT.
“Govenor Umahi should refrain from further acts of treasonable felon geared towards overriding the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or the Sovereign Will of the people, through his selfish and wicked misuse of political power.
“This devilish culture of insisting on butchering the citizens as an instrument of power grab must be stopped if our democracy is to survive. Let Umahi and his cronies/footsoldiers succumb to the conventional security apparatus for a level playing field as we approach the 2023 general elections.
“Umahi’s insistence on creating further security outfits should be seen as the antinomies of a sinking war-lord who is desperate to win elections and impose his surrogates at all costs.
While urging Ebonyians to reject those worn-out machinations, insisting that they want a free and fair elections to enable them elect credible leaders of their choice.
